About This Lesson

In this lesson, students explore common stereotypes about older and younger generations, match critical comments to everyday situations, and discuss whether age-based assumptions are fair. They debate social expectations, changing values, and generational differences, then watch a video examining people's attitudes toward ageing and life satisfaction. Students analyze survey results about perceptions of older adults, reflect on their own age and responsibilities, and share their opinions on what makes a particular period of life enjoyable. They can also do an extra vocabulary task (e.g. bristle at, wound up, assumptions, obligations, depend on).
