About This Lesson

They then examine a list of "cringe-inducing" noises, ranking them based on personal reactions before looking at statistical data about snoring, noting its high prevalence among men, women, and children, and how it increases with age. The lesson transitions to medical contexts as students watch a video featuring a doctor and a patient to learn about sleep apnea. They identify key symptoms like teeth grinding (bruxism) and the characteristic choking or gasping sounds that follow periods of breathlessness. Finally, learners engage in a critical discussion about the social and health impacts of snoring, debating personal responsibility, the stigma surrounding sleep studies, and the effectiveness of common home remedies.
